Thai experiences of living in England Nov 2007 - Some of the findings from research by the Runymede Trust into the Thai-British relationships are available online. Interviews with several groups of Thai women, as well as the findings from surveys and other discussions by the researcher Jessica Mai Sims, are included. More information>>>
COMMENT There are enormous benefits to living in a mixed race relationship. Many Thai-UK partnerships exists between the two countries with frequent travel back and forth. Whle the broad picture of Thai-British relations is positive - the interest in Thai cuisine and growing business links between the countries - it can hide more subtle challenges which exist for Thai people settling in the UK and for British living in Thailand. Children growing up with parents from both countries don't always find it easy to fit in. In Thailand they are often the focus of attention as a 'look-krung' whereas in England they are often assumed to be Chinese. The information on this page points to resources and organisations that focus on living in a cross-cultural relationships.
