Jon Boagey and Sukanjana Chuaiprasit met in 1989 while working in the Lao refugee camps of north-east Thailand. They got married, had children and eventually returned to England in 1995. Thai-uk.org started in 2000 after a general frustration with British stereotypes of Thailand and Thai people and a desire to bring up our three children so that they valued their Thai heritage in the face of the dominant UK culture.

We also launched a bookshop selling Thai children's books because it isn't easy to find them outside Thailand. Follow the link at the top of the page to go to the shop.

Thai-uk is a voluntary effort which we try to fit in around everything else that's going on in our lives. If the site isn't always up-to-date, please bear with us - we're getting round to it!
